Reflections (Post 6)
- In my opinion the whole point of the book was to illustrate a future picture of what America could look like in the future after all the terrible stuff that has happened to it so far, (i.e. 911, Columbine Massacre...).
- Before I started reading the novel I predicted that the main idea behind the story was how much of a threat computer and cyber bullying/hacking could be to our society.
- My thoughts on the story are what I stated in the first answer.
- In the novel, the world is a better place because there is always rules and laws, and that police enforce them to the public (long arm of the law). So people cannot commit crimes as easily as they can without the laws and security.
- I could make the world a better place by projecting my insightful voice and ideas to everyone, so they can listen to it endlessly thinking 'Wow! that's some smart kid!'
Opinions (Post 5)
In my novel I think the key character in the book (Marcus) would participate in the 2011 Vancouver Riots. The reasons for this are that he his a troubled teen who is looking to cause disturbance, and in my opinion he enjoys doing such things. Another example would be that he thinks he can always be free of consequences by participating in illegal actions. My final explanation of why Marcus Yallow would join in the riots would be because he is so attached to his hobbies (hacking computer systems) is that he would fight for it, it would be the same case if loved hockey.
Visualize (Post 4)
This picture is from the 2011 Vancouver riots. This photo tells a million words and can be interpreted in many different ways. In my opinion I connect this picture to the book 'Little Brother' because these people are vandalizing and cheating society to extreme and horrific levels. This also happens in the novel, just in a different context.
Asking Questions (Post 3)
- Why does Marcus enjoy hacking and violating people's personal accounts?
- Why is Marcus referred to as 'Winston'?
- Why doesn't the school know that he is hacking the system?
- Is Marcus an orphan or is he adopted, from where?
- How and when did he first learn to hack?
Connections (Post 2)
Text-World
In the book 'Little Brother' the main character, Marcus Yallow plays a cyber hacker. I connect him to secret gamblers and poker players. What he does is is that he finds something he's interested in and tries to make it his own by hacking and breaking in to someones account. So he tries to take the glory and riches, but doing it secretly. This is a great connection to gamblers and poker players because they want to win but they don't tell everybody in the world unless they're playing for fun.
Text-Text
This book reminds me of a movie called 'Tower Heist'. This is because both the book and the movie's plot are about ordinary people trying to cheat the system and benefit from it. For example in the movie, the main character attempts to steal millions of dollars form the company and in the book the centered character tries to hack the cities security system. This is how I would connect this novel to another.

The title of the story I'm reading is Little Brother,
The author of the story is called Cory Doctorow,
The cover tells us that there are is a character that likes computers and hacking them,
My prediction by the end of the novel is that the main character, who is called Marcus Yallow will outwit the government and 'save' the city.
